Rejuvenation

Over time your feather and down products need some T.L.C. If your quilt has become flat, is not as warm as it used to be, or seems heavy, it is probably time for the feather and down to be rejuvenated.

Be wary of cheap cleaning processes, actual rejuvenation is a specialised service that needs specialised equipment to ensure your valuable bedding products are returned to you in pristine condition.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I REJUVENATE MY BEDDING?

Rejuvenation through Dyne’s Autoclave unit should last 3-5 years as long as simple care instructions are followed.

· Air your quilts and pillows regularly in the warm sunshine – we advise fortnightly where possible.

· Try to avoid sitting on your quilt as this can damage the feather and down.

· DO NOT EVER hot wash or dry clean your quilt. These processes can strip the natural oils from your feathers and downs rendering them dry and brittle and will result in the down clusters breaking prematurely.

There is no need to have your bedding laundered in between, this only adds extra costs and can be detrimental to your feather and down.

WHAT IS REJUVENATION?

Rejuvenation is the actual removal of your feather and down from the fabric casing into our Lorch D53 Autoclave unit. Here your feather and down is triply dedusted and broken particles removed. Dyne’s built-in autoclave sterilises to 130°C, killing dust mite and bacteria and ensuring that during the drying process the feather and down is reopened to bring back the natural loft needed for your quilt to perform properly.

During this process your outer fabric casing is laundered or replaced, ready to house your rejuvenated feather and down. Extra filling can be added, or if your quilt has been too hot removed, at this stage depending on your requirements.

To ensure you are not putting good money after bad, our trained staff will assess your quilt before we proceed with anything. This involves opening a small section of your quilt and removing a sample of the filling to determine the options open to you.

This assessment is free and without obligation, but gives you the peace of mind that your quilt will come up to Dyne's standards when rejuvenated.

IS MY QUILT WORTH DOING?

A good quality feather and down quilt, well maintained, can last at least 20 years if not more. Feather and down in itself has a lifespan of approximately 50 years, it is normally the fabric that deteriorates first.

WHAT CAN BE REJUVENATED?

Feather and Down Quilts, Pillows, Duvets, Doonas, Eiderdowns, Sleeping Bags, Upholstery Cushions.

In fact, just about anything that has feather and down in it.
